Travel to Amber Fort, situated at a distance of 11
kilometers from Jaipur, is a major attraction of the
Rajputana Experience tour. Built in red sandstone and
white marble and further beautified by the scenic Maota
Lake, the Amber Fort looks simply spectacular.
From Jaipur, it is very easy to travel to Amber Fort
by road. However, the best way to travel to Amber Fort
is an elephant ride from the town. It will give you
the thrill of being a member of a royal family.
For more than seven centuries, the Amber Fort was the
center of the Kachachawahas. The present day fort is
the brainchild of Jaipur's rulers Man Singh, Jai Singh
I and II.
Do not be mistaken by the rugged external look of the
Amber Fort. Its interiors are matchlessly splendid.
Adorned with paintings, mosaics and mirror work, the
fort is a fine blend of Hindu and Muslim architecture.
Most of the palaces and structures inside the fort are
ruined. Nevertheless, during your Amber Fort tour you
will find quite a few well-preserved structures.
The Shila Mata temple complex is the most noteworthy
part of travel to Amber Fort. The complex houses beautiful
images of Hindu gods and goddesses. Ganesh Pol is the
gateway that has images of Lord Ganesha. The Sheesh
Mahal is a palace designed with intricately carved mirrors.
The public address hall Diwan-e-Aam is also a must-see.
You can see a vast collection of flora and fauna at
the Char Bagh garden.
The lives and times of erstwhile Indian rulers will
be brought alive in front of you during travel to Amber
Fort in Jaipur.
